FAQ

We are here to help you 7 days a week and respond within 24 hours. Plus, you can find most answers to your questions right on this page.

Who can attend the New Zealand OSCE?

Internationally Qualified Nurses (IQNs):
• Nurses who have obtained their qualifications outside of New Zealand and seek to register with
the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) must pass the OSCE by undergoing OSCE
Coaching in Kerala if they don’t meet New Zealand’s requirements directly.

Candidates for Registration:
• Those who have completed the Competency Assessment Programme (CAP) or other specific
OSCE training required by the Nursing Council.

Nurses with Non-New Zealand Qualifications:
• Those from countries like the Philippines, India, and the UK need to pass the exam by
completing the training as a part of their process to become registered nurses in New Zealand.

What qualifications are needed to attend the OSCE in New Zealand?

Approved Nursing Qualification:
• You must have an internationally recognized nursing qualification that is comparable to New
Zealand’s nursing standards.
• The Nursing Council evaluates the qualification to ensure it meets their standards, particularly
in the areas of clinical skills and knowledge.
• Attending OSCE training in Kerala or any other state or country can help you prepare for the
exam.

English Language Proficiency:
• You must demonstrate proficiency in English, typically through accepted language tests like
the IELTS or OET.

What is the purpose of the OSCE exam?

Assess Clinical Competence:
• The OSCE tests a range of practical skills, such as patient assessment, communication,
diagnosis, and treatment, in a controlled environment.
Simulate Real-Life Scenarios:
• The exam is designed to replicate real-life clinical situations, providing candidates with
scenarios where they must demonstrate the ability to handle patient care.
Objective Evaluation:
• Unlike traditional exams, the OSCE uses stations where candidates are assessed by examiners
based on clearly defined criteria.
Determine Fitness to Practice:
• The OSCE is often a requirement for registration or licensure in certain countries (such as New
Zealand, the UK, and Australia

Is the OSCE exam tough to clear?

The OSCE is a tough exam for many because it tests practical skills. It checks how well you can handle real-life situations in a controlled setup. But with the right training at NITE, you can pass the exam easily. That’s why we are the top IQN and OSCE training providers in Kerala.

How many chances are there to take the OSCE?

3 Attempts: Generally, candidates are allowed up to 3 attempts to pass the OSCE exam. This includes
the first attempt and any retakes. Choose the best OSCE training in Kerala to increase your chances of
success.
